Garðr is the original Viking word for an enclosure between 2 buildings, a courtyard, a “garden”.“garðr m (genitive garðs, plural garðar) Norse: garðr ("court, yard, garden, enclosure") Similar with Old English ġeard, Old Saxon gard, Old High German gart, Gothic (gards).

2015
Douglas started building the foundation stones for his landscaping career with a bespoke carpentry apprenticeship at Pincay Woodworking.
Douglas built his first pond at the age of 17!
2017
Douglas joined Women with Waders, an award winning specialist aquatics business, where in a 3 year period, he had the opportunity to design and build more than 100 private and commercial ponds.
2020
Douglas joined Kate Gould Gardens, famous for multi year gold medal wins at Chelsea Flower Show. Douglas worked on a countless number of incredible London gardens, including Kate Gould's 3 gold medal Chelsea Show Garden "Out of the Shadows" in 2022.
2022
Douglas launches his own business Garðr, with overnight success, making a splash in the local area by focusing on quality, customer service and a personal style that customers love.
2025

Dougie has done a truly amazing job. We have had the front of our house completely re-landscaped in order to incorporate a large gravel driveway. From the very first visit Dougie knew exactly what we wanted to achieve and he was very attentive to our needs and flexible in his approach in order to accommodate our changing ideas. He is very skilled and also knowledgeable. He has an excellent understanding of all that needs to be undertaken in order to complete a job to the highest standard.
